Soul Psychology

An Online series of courses
with thomas moore

For almost five years now I have been teaching Soul Psychology, an intensive study of my books and their sources. I base the courses in Archetypal Psychology, Jungian Psychology, Greek mythology, the world’s spiritual traditions, and the arts.  This is both a study of ideas and a way of deepening personal life.

Here’s the way it works: The series consists of six courses, each having six weekly lessons. You sign up for one course at a time. That is thirty-six sessions altogether. (Read details about the latest class below.) Students get five or six brief (one page to a page and a half) readings on Friday. The following Wednesday we have a live session in which I give a talk on the theme of the day for an hour and then answer questions. The platform is Ruzuku, which mainly uses a chat-style, type-in format, with occasional Zoom sessions for conversation. Students also engage in active 24/7 conversations also in chat style. I join these discussions, too. Once you take six courses, you qualify for a certificate from me. Each course also includes an hour-long Zoom gathering.

Some in the course have a strong background in these matters and some have none. Most are in-between. You can set your own pace.

My basic principles for teaching here are friendship and pleasure.  This is not school. Participants are there to learn, not to be taught. You get some information, but more importantly you get a deeper and surprising new perspective on just about everything. Personally, I don’t think there is any like it available, and I find it exciting and fulfilling.

Student Testimonials

As a practicing counsellor who is influenced by Thomas, James Hillman and Carl Jung, it has been a wonderful experience to learn with Tom in his Soul Psychology course. Each week, Tom offers readings and reflections that can be taken on their own or act as pointers toward deeper investigation, some of which lead to the very foundation of the Western psyche. The breadth and depth of his knowledge is remarkable and inspiring. The education that he’s curated over the six courses has not only enriched my professional practice, but has deepened my engagement with life.
— Brian James, July 28, 2022

“It has been a great pleasure and very enriching to be involved in the course. It has been very inspiring and given me plenty of new knowledge and food for thought, which I have been able to use both in my personal life and in my own teaching.”
— Michael Møller Anderson, March 15, 2024
